We Used To Be Friends….

Oh, who am I kidding? No used to be friends with Veronica Mars: we have ALWAYS been friends.

Don’t believe me? Not counting my “welcome/introduction” post, my very first post when I started my blog was about Veronica Mars: “I love this show; if it was possible to marry it I would, that is how much I love it.”

Wait, you didn’t watch Veronica Mars? FIX THIS. FIX THIS NOW. In a nutshell, Veronica’s best friend has been killed and Season One is about Veronica, an outsider and loner at school, risking everything to solve that murder.

My second post was about Logan Echolls, and how Rob Thomas used an unreliable narrator (Veronica) to make the audience think one thing about Logan when the truth was much more muddied and complex: “So — why do we think Logan is an [obligatory psychotic jackass]? Because Veronica told us so. Maybe Logan isn’t an OPJ — maybe that’s just the way Veronica saw him. And now, as she gets to know him and sees him more fully, she realizes: yes, he acted like a jackass. But that doesn’t mean he is one. And whatever he thought of Veronica — bitter? vengeful? nasty? — he has realized, that’s not her.”

My post about Veronica Mars in reruns, because it has a terrific quote that shows that Veronica Mars was just as much about the haves and have-nots as it was about mysteries: “This is my school. If you go here, your parents are either millionaires, or your parents work for millionaires. Neptune California, a town without the middle class. If you’re in the second group, you get a job. Fast food, movie theaters, mini marts. Or you could be me. My after school job means tailing philandering spouses or investigating false injury claims.”

And, if you want more information about Veronica Mars, check out my DVD review which includes an awesome link to Veronica singing. And yes, I still want her wardrobe

And now, years after Veronica Mars went off the air, something very exciting is happening.

There will be a movie: provided the Veronica Mars Movie Project Kickstarter gets funded for at least $2,000,000 by April 12, 2013.

As I’m typing this up, the pledged value is $1,554,477 by 23,586 backers. I am proud to say that I am one of those backers! Based on this amount being pledged in less than twenty-four hours, I’m extremely optimistic that the minimum two million will be reached within thirty days. If it is reached — keep pledging. Because (as is explained in the Kickstarter for the Movie Project) the more money, the bigger they can go with the movie.

So, if you haven’t watched Veronica Mars, check it out!

And if you have… consider being part of the Kickstarter to get a movie made!

  1. Yesterday’s news absolutely made my day. I’m curious if the Veronica-as-FBI-Agent premise that was pitched for a proposed Season 4 will be the basis of the movie. So psyched! And Allie…Team Logan!!! 😀
