The Los Angeles Review of Books is “the first major, full-service book review to launch in the 21st century, and is designed to exploit the latest online technologies in ways that respond to a significantly transformed publishing world.” More at its website; and Publishers Weekly has an article on the recent launch.
What is really exciting (and by “really exciting,” I mean “the part that interests me”) is that Cecil Castellucci will be the Section Editor for YA and Kids. Publishers Weekly reports on this, and you really should read their full report. It’s terrific that it is Castellucci, yes; but it is just as terrific that from the start, the Los Angeles Review of Books is including children’s lit and young adult books. Which, you know, is how I spell r.e.s.p.e.c.t.
Does anyone recognize any of the contributing editors as being people who have written about ya/children’s lit?

In all seriousness, the list is a veritable Who’s Who of California writers.

Off the top of my head, I can say among the YA/children’s writers are Cecil, of course, Juan Felipe Herrera, Susan Straight, Kerry Madden, Janet Fitch, and Joy Harjo.
